Here are a few of the many benefits that Deep Tissue Massage can ellicit:
- Release chronic trigger points (knots)
- Can help resolve postural adaptions
- Increase range of movement
- Helps eliminate Repetitive Strain Injuries
- Removes long-term stiffness and annoying aches and pains
What To Expect
Deep tissue massage is unlike the kind of treatment you would usually expect in a spa or beauty salon. Smooth, superficial movements are fantastic for relaxation but are unlikely to resolve chronic conditions such as repetitive strain, postural changes and muscle fibrosis (knots). The body has literally hundreds of muscles many of which are layered upon each other meaning that a deeper more penetrating treatment is required.

How We Do It
Consequently, a number of advanced techniques are employed ranging from effleurage and petrissage: these movements consist of progressive stroking and kneading to improve tissue elasticity and promote circulation, Stripping quite literally irons out the tissue and restores it to its natural shape and tone, Frictions which are small circular or transverse movements aimed at reducing scar tissue and eliminating adhesions (knots). Persistent pain such as headaches can often be resolved using techniques such as trigger pointing which focusses on a very specific area and with use of appropriate pressure can ellicit often long-term pain relief.
Remedial Techniques
These remedial techniques are further enhanced by using advanced stretching and mobility movements such as STR (Soft Tissue Release) which is fantastic for stretching and improving mobility in specific areas of tissue, or PNF (proprioceptive nueromuscular facilitation) a fancy name for creating a progressive, long- lasting stretch response. Although these penetrating techniques may cause a degree of discomfort- many clients describe this as a “good pain”! We will always work within your own comfort range and ensure you finish the treatment feeling relaxed and looser.
