How
Can It Help
Injuries to soft tissue (muscles, tendons, connective tissue etc) e.g. sprains, strains,
muscle tears, micro trauma, postural adaptions are encouraged to heal by applying
specific pressure and movements to the injured area. Over time this process
is enhanced by providing rehabilitation therapy in the form of appropriate exercises,
mobility and flexibility advice. This rehabilitation process will continue,
often quite literally step by step, until the client can resume normal activity
without discomfort.
It’s worth noting that regular sports massage is very beneficial in actually preventing injury (both pre and post event) occurring. This is because likely areas of unnecessary tightness caused by muscle adhesions, fatigue, muscle imbalance, are passively stretched and realigned to their correct shape. Nutrients from deeper tissues are literally forced into and around damaged tissue accelerating the healing process. Waste materials are flushed away via the lymphatic system and circulation is restored encouraging repair and growth.
Here’s a summary of benefits:
• Reduces Swelling
• Relieves muscle tightness and tension
• Improves mobility and flexibility
• Can reduce scar tissue and muscle adhesions
• Improved nutrient supply to damaged tissues
• Can reduce psychological tension and anxiety
